I started this blog when my youngest was learning to crawl and although I discouraged her from crawling (so she would remain my sweet baby girl forever), in true third-child stubbornness, she didn't listen and in a blink of an eye she did this to me...

Ouch.

In all fairness, with eighteen hundred minutes spent in the elementary school cafeteria even before she stepped foot inside her own kindergarten classroom, she was ready. On our brief walk to our new school she mentioned how unfair it was that she'd never ride the bus to school (like her siblings) and I told her how unfair it was that they never got so much one-on-one time walking to school with their parents (like she will). There isn't even an opportunity for her to bike to school because the five block radius around it is flooded with children walking. We are going to make some great memories on the path to school.

Although most kids in her class have been together since nursery school, Feenie walked into the room liked she belonged there. Within minutes a crowd of little girls gathered around to see her make "donut holes" with play-doh. It didn't take long for Feenie to convince them that they were all working in a bakery - each one having an important job, "If we work together we can make a gazillion donut holes!"

Feenie is 110% ready for kindergarten and after allowing her to camp overnight with her summer camp, this leaving-her-in-kindergarten-all-day-long thing is no big deal for me. (Did I just say that out loud? The same neurotic mother that wept for two months when her eldest started kindergarten.) During "circle time" the teacher went over rules and regulations and asked is anybody had questions. Thirteen little hands went up but only one person asked "can I bring my wiener dog to school?" and the entire class erupted in laughter.

It's going to be an awesome year.

I cannot believe how long we've been doing this, and how big our littles are.

When I saw the title of this post on FB just now I said in my head, "No. Way.". Your baby is NOT allowed to be in Kindergarten. GAH.

It IS going to be a great year though... LOVE that Feenie!!!

xoxo

Similar feelings here - I thought, "wow, have I really been following you this long??". And yes, you deserve a "woot". :)

What a dream student! I'm a 3rd grade teacher who someday longs to be a Kindergarten teacher so I can hear questions like that daily. Oh, happy new school year to you all! Especially to Feenie!

I've been reading your bog for years...my seven year old son sounds very similar to yours (without that rockin work ethic and drive to make money...wish we had that goin on!). My middle child just started K, and she's a lot like your feenie...I love the spunk! Here's to a great year for all of us!

Sounds like Feenie is well on her way to being voted "most popular" one day by her class. She's already a hit and it's only day 1.

I am so excited for Feenie and starting kindergarten. I would not be surprised if one day she ruled the world.

I can't believe she is in kindergarten. I still remember when you told us at your birthday party that you were pregnant. (I almost fell over!) What will you do now with all the free time? I can only imagine!

Feenie starting kindergarten. I am in awe.
Just checking in on bloggy friends who I haven't visited in the longest time. So glad to see that things are going so well. All is looking so good, girlfriend!
My baby G starts grade 3 tomorrow. How did that happen?

I've been neglecting my bloggy friends for months and I have SO much catching up to do. But kindergarten, really? I wish everyone could just freeze in time until I'm ready to get back into visiting. I'm totally unprepared for this. Sigh.
