In signature Classy Chaos style, our moving truck broke down three times in-between Cleveland and Chicago. (Insert short story *here* - my husband and my brother, whom were trailing behind the truck, had to spend the night at a 24/7 truck stop in Mishawaka, Indiana because of mechanical problems. Ooff!) In my next life I would like to spare both my husband and my brother and fork over the extra cash for a more professional moving company.

Luckily for them, there was a gathering of family upon their arrival in Chicago. All eager to unload.

And unload, we did. Through the narrow hallways of a century home...

ooff1

... through some old corners that were so tiny they nearly convinced the husband & I to sleep in separate twin beds for the rest of our married life but with enough push and shove our king sized bed inched itself up the tiny stairway, much thanks to the man power of our team. One by one we unloaded all our pocessions through our "new" old home.

Ooff

Every. One. Helped out. It was our fourth move in twelve years and we never received this much help before.

Our new "old" home already feels like home.

A gazzilion thanks to all of our family members who are probably sleeping very well tonight. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can barely keeps my eyes open tonight and can only imagine how tired you must feel. Par-tay in our house, next week! Our treat.

Hooray for family and for FINALLY being moved into your "new" old home. I know it's been a long time coming and you've had to go through a lot to get there. Welcome home my friend. Let the memory making in your new home begin ;)

WhooHoo! Congrats on being moved in! Hope the first nights in the house as a family were wonderful (and I hear you on the small staircases - our 3rd floor bed has no box springs because they wouldn't fit up the stairs!)

You are so blessed. Despite the truck breakdowns. And I know you know that, which is awesome.

That house looks amazing. Welcome Home!!

I guess that's why they use two twin box springs for king-sized beds instead of having king-sized box springs! We have a similar stairway corner in our not-quite-century home. We also have a beautiful oak armoire that has been sitting in our living room rather than our bedroom the past 10 years. We keep saying that one of these days, we're going to rent a scissor lift and get it upstairs via the second-floor porch....

Glad you're finally moved in to your new-old house (but not, I'm sure, as glad as you are)!

The house is beautiful. Please post lots of pics. I love how you've decorated. Have the kiddos adjusted to the new school? I bet! Seems like a wonderful community for kids and families.
