Did I mention that I started a new job this week?
I have always been that restless SAHM that volunteered for everything and welcomed projects of any size. In my ten-year SAHM career (that I was so fortunate to have) I completed my Masters degree in Education, had a successful ebay "company", wrote a book (2nd edition was printed in Poland & is lovely!), spoke at four social media conferences and was overly active in all the typical SAHM duties of being room-mom/soccer coach/newsletter editor and what not. There was rarely ever a day off.
Always one to keep busy, I'm happy to announce that I'm overly excited about my new job! I will be a sales associate in Woodfield Mall - located just outside of Chicago, in Schaumburg. Conveniently located in a store on the second floor between a Nordstrom and an Anthroplogie. God help my credit card.
I'm taking my ten-year-old son's lead and dipping my toes into the family business.
So far, my son's resume is much more impressive than mine. - He managed to work a full day with my stubborn dad. - He figured out the distribution schedule. - He got himself in the bootlegging business.
Our family business is an honest-to-goodness family business where we lock up our young ones behind bars until they can spell "family" and "business". This kindergarten child below is almost ripe enough to work at the grand opening of our newest location.
All joking aside, DOMitp is truly a family effort. It's a European houseware store that offers everything from Swedish clogs to Polish pottery to seeds, plates, glass, hand-blown Christmas ornaments, and to the largest wool hat collection in Chicago, and to exclusive designs that we as a family helped design like these Chicago ornaments and oh my gosh, you all, so much more. There are some incredible clothing designers from Eastern Europe that we will feature that are so very classy. And. So sorry for all the run-ons but I'm just really super happy. So happy!
Orange is so cute, no? That wool hat is Made In Poland. Just like me!
So. I'm starting from the bottom and working my way up, just like my son did. I'm working at DOMitp in Woodfield for our family business and I could not be more excited. Follow me on Instagram at @domitp for the behind-the-scenes look at a family business and on twitter at @domitp . There's so much to share. |

Email me and let me know when you're starting, and if you might be able to escape to the food court for lunch. My treat.
With all the prep!
