Continuing traditions - Halloween partay 2012 PDF Print E-mail

We threw our very first Halloween party when Jay was an infant (because we wanted our home to be filled with family and friends, as much as possible) and we continued the tradition every year since then.

Missing are the years that I wasn't blogging.

2008.

2009.

2010.

2011.

When re-reading the posts mentioned above, one thing is for sure. It takes our entire family to pull off the event and the kiddos take hosting responsibilities as seriously as I do, to make sure that everyone has a good time. Which makes paying for the annual par-tay well worth the investment. They've grown up knowing how to entertain guests in our home.

This year we had a face painting station!

A spooky tattoo station!

And. And.... a live magic show slash live frog show.

"Are you guys ready for the LIVE magic and frog show?!?"

"Yeah!"

"I can't hear you guys! I said.... Are you ready for the LIVE MAGIC AND FROG show?"

"YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It was quite possibly the highlight of my parenting career, thus far. Watching my eldest (born and bred on hosting parties in our home) confidently step up to entertain the youngest children for nearly an hour with random card tricks and even more random facts about frogs. He had a captive audience of kids and adults.

It was a very laid back par-tay this year; but, it made the most impact on me. My kiddos sure do know how to entertain. I hope they will have fond memories of our parties when they grow up and smile when they think about them. I know, I do.

So sweet! You are so brave to throw a party just as you are getting settled into the new house. I would be a wreck! ;-) You rock!!!
