I saw a cute Valentine's Day idea on USA Swimming's facebook wall and knew I wanted to duplicate it for Lola. With the summer Olympics this past summer and Lola's growing enthusiasm for swimming it was a perfect card. She took one look at it and asked if we could make it. "Sure! Let's call Kasia and see if she has time to help." One quick text later and my sister, the photoshop extraordinaire, had two awesome designs for Lola to choose from.
Naturally my eight-year-old was sold on the big red heart in the second design, so we quickly printed them out on 4 by 6 inch photo paper. Instant Valentine's Day cards. Thanks Kasia! There was only one concern that Lola had. "How can I add Braille to the card so my friend can read it?" she asked. At recess today she typed out "You relay get me" and "To: Emily" and "From: Lola" in Braille on sticky paper and laid it over the words, so that her friend in class (who is also a swimmer!) will be able to read her Valentine's Day card. Video here. So. Sweet.
Happy Valentine's Day. (Braille website for kids.)
