Six weeks ago, my husband started tackling the last room left in our remodel which started 6 months ago. The kitchen, in the house that love built. Today, I'm thrilled to announce that we no longer live in a semi-remodeled home and the project is nearly complete. Nearly. Stay tuned to see the big reveal of the new MPR room, in less then six weeks.
Since so much of our time, love and sweat was poured into this project allow me to pretend that I'm an experienced home-decorator blogger, just for one day, while I go all "Traditional Homes" on you. (insert jazz hands)
Our new kitchen:
Cabinets: Diamond cabinetry. The Selena style in maple, stained an amaretto creme with a distressed finish.
Chandelier: Celeste crystal 6-light chandelier from Overstock.com purchased to resemble the more expensive Pottery Barn "Celeste" fixture.
Hardware: Stockbridge birdcage pulls in an oil-rubbed bronze, from Overstock.com. Nearly two dollars less expensive per each pull, then at the local mega hardware stores.
Counter top: Uba Tuba granite from a west-side factory owned by a newly naturalized American from Mexico City.
Paint: Benjamin Moore color "we have already forgotten the color after breathing in the fumes well past midnight." Floor: Pre-finished solid maple in a wide plank by Sheoga.
Tile: Tuscan tumbled marble. Be sure when grouting the tile, you wipe off grout before it completely sets in because that'snotfun to clean up. Or so my husband/contractor swore under his breath that one night between one and two a.m.
Dinnerware:
Porcelain white dishes made-in-Poland from Domitp.com. Please note that we used to have an equal ratio of plates and bowls and salad plates and then we had kids.
Construction Team: Father and Son and a little help from one very talkative retired cabinet maker named Joe who likes to hang cabinets for fun and was an apprentice to a cabinet maker in Italy when he was only 15 which didn't allow him to attend school and his biggest regret in life was not earning a degree but he feels that he has lived his life to the fullest and loves his family although he misses his children and grandchildren whom all live far away from Cleveland which isn't like the old days when the old village was full of your entire extended family.
Guidance:
Jeff's father. The chickadee's grandfather. My father in law. Whose incredible knowledge of plumbling/electrical mumbo jumbo was forever appreciated. He was paid in stuffed cabbage and lots of sloppy kisses by his biggest fan, The Feenster.
Funded:
Home remodel project funded, very partially, by mother nature.
Comments
Are you happy with the chandelier you bought at overstock? I have been thinking about the one at PB for our dining room.
Thanks
