There's a secret place in Cleveland that we like to call The Lazy River. It's actually part of the Cleveland Metroparks and called the Chagrin River. It's a place where we escape the growing heap of laundry invading our hampers, where we escape the mounds of dishes after a Sunday home style breakfast, where we escape the disastrous state of our goldfish encrusted minivan. It's the place we escape to as a family regularly. It's our place or so we like to think. Follow the path of limestone rocks. ![]() Pass by the ancient undercut of rock sediment. ![]() Slowly walk across the flat sheet rock picking your path with care. ![]() At the top of the waterfall the calm waters are clear enough to notice crayfish, minnows, frogs and tadpoles. Watch your step. ![]() The moss growing on the rocks is enough padding for some fun on nature's water slide. ![]() You might be surprised at how fast you can go. ![]() You might be surprised that it's free. Free to use. Free to park your car. Free of lines. Free. ![]() You might be surprised that once again your mother was right. The Lazy River really does rock even more then playing with American Girl dolls. ![]() It's our secret place in Cleveland that we flock to leaving the mundane weekend household obligations for another day. A seemingly healthy lesson of procrastination for our children. Tomorrow I will buy stock in Merry Maids once people catch onto the method to my madness. Or I might have to clean. Which ever I get to first. |
