Last week I received a letter from the president and CEO of the Cleveland Foodbank thanking me for the donation and online exposure. It made my heart smile.
Today my heart was smiling all day long. I was so touched by your comments yesterday and realized how incredibly fortunate I was to be sitting in my traditional colonial reading such kind words written for me. While people in Haiti were suffering. It felt wrong to smile when others were hurting. I announced that I would donate $1 per comment (cap at $300) and hundreds of you commented. What I really wanted was to find a business that matched my own personal donation of $300 and double it. I twittered. I facebooked. I did what I could.
Not one, but two businesses matched my donation! Which means that in the last twenty-four hours we (you and me) managed to raise $900 for Haiti. Not too shabby for a mommy blog, no? Thank you! I used USAID advice on where to donate and decided that CRS was appropriate since they paid for us to immigrate to the US years ago. I donated and the two businesses donated as well (I asked for an online receipt) and my heart smiled again.
I ask for another favor tonight. It will take only a second of your day. Please click over to Ferfolia Funeral Homes in Sagamore Hills, OH (thanks to Allyson) and DOMitp houseware stores in Chicago (thanks to DOMitp) to show them you appreciate their kind hearts in matching my donation. Show them you care by clicking over.
$900 raised. *High five* bloggers! Not too shabby for a mommy blog. |
