Hanging my laundry out to dry.... PDF Print E-mail

Updated:  Congrats to the winner of the Method gift basket:  AL PAL

Here are your random numbers: 85 Timestamp: 2010-01-28 01:28:49 UTC

The rumors are true. The last time I did the laundry was back in 2004.

I was pregnant with chickadee #2 and my back ached so much that lifting (after gaining 80 pounds) was out of the question and I was OH so tired.  My awesome husband took over.  He did the laundry.  He did it much better than me and took over the chore since then.  He is better at it.  It's one argument I do not dare mingle in, now that he has established exclusive rights to.

There's a prize.  For the person that can relate, yo!  It includes a bottle of the Method detergent (mentioned above), all purpose Method wipes, and Method tub and tile cleaner, and Method dish and hand soap, and plus a  Method "flour sack" kitchen towel as the filter (what is that?). We love Method products.  Leave me a lazy comment and you are entered.

Disclaimer:  I (my husband) was given a bottle to try out, from Heinens grocery store, for this honest review.  See other great reviews going on here!

I can't really relate to you, but I have been using a washboard for a couple of years. If I ever get married, that person'll have to be a saint to put up with me.

That is awesome. I once asked my husband to do me a favor and put the wet laundry from the washer into the dryer. He asked me which one was the dryer. True story.

I'm the opposite. I went into the hospital for a week, and while I was away, hubby did the laundry in the bathtub and hung to dry on the towel racks the entire week...I came home to clothes hanging EVERYWHERE. I was afraid to even ask. He has NO IDEA how to use our front-loading machines, and refuses to learn. *sigh* But I suck at doing laundry, myself...I just don't have a choice. We need clothes.

Okay, who says "soiled linens"?

I can TOTALLY picture your husband as my dentist.

But, as for the soiled linens, you KNOW I can relate. I have my own favorite brand of pee-smell-eliminator. And, trust me, I use the bejeezus out of it.

we were recently pregnant with twins and my husband took over the laundry duties. he does it way, way better than i ever have. i hate laundry! since delivering the babies way too early, i have been more than lazy about everything except reading blogs and eating cookies! and if you're thinking my brand of lazy includes sleep, you'd be wrong. no sleep, nohow.
i do love me so method products...every try their wet dryer sheets? yummm!

OMG! So, I'm watching this, and from behind the laptop, my husband says, "Are you watching porn?" (Coffee snort). The raunchy music, the dirty questions, and your breathing...awesome! Kudos to your hubby for contributing. Oh, and I can relate. I am not afraid to brag when he does it better...cooking, vacuuming... ;)

I can totally relate. Although I am the laundress in our home, my husband is way better at washing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen every night. I don't know what I'd do without him. The kitchen is the one place in our home that is always clean and I'm so blessed that he keeps it that way.

OMG-I thought I was the only one!!! My husband has a slight case of OCD and does such a good job on the laundry it's scary. He folds the shirts in such a crazy way that I can never refold them but they are wrinkle free. If I do any of the laundry he always refolds his clothes! Too funny!

I adore Method products because they are so chemical free! My favorite way to clean the shower is to let my 3 yr old shower with me. She loves to scrub things. I give her the scrub brush and a blob of shampoo and she goes to town on the tile. What? Soap is soap, right?

I do my laundry and Madaline's laundry. My husband is responsible for his own laundry. It has always been that way and we have been together for almost 10 years. It is a solution that works well for us. None of my treasured sweater end up shrunken and if he ends up with pink socks & boxers's it's his own fault.

My husband does the laundry, the folding, the ironing. I sit back and smile because I know I don't have to do it. (I hate laundry) and he's WAY better at ironing and folding, yo. I only launder the sheets, and to the utter disgust of my polish mama, you wouldn't want to peek in my linen closet!

Love Love Love the video. And Love my hubby who comes home and folds and puts away all the laundry. That is my lest favorite part of laundry I can throw a load in and take it out of the dryer but to find time with 4 kiddos to sit and fold and then keep it folded long enough to hit the dressers. Got to love a man willing to work all day then come home and work some more.

I actually just started to shake a bit thinking about my husband doing our laundry. Everything would be crammed into the washing machine at once - all colors, all textures, etc.

My favorite is when my husband says, "do you think we should do laundry on a more regular basis" to hint that I am not doing it fast enough. And then i glare at him and he give up on his "regular basis" concept. I so married a caveman.

I used to LOVE doing laundry when I had 1 or two kids but now it is a full time job. I hang dry so much and I iron so much. I make it far more work than it should be but our clothes always looks good. I used to used method laundry products. I LOVE the Method granite cleaner. But recently I have switched to the Up brand at Target. I did not know about the pump. I would like that! Maybe I ought to try ti again. I love to clean so I would actually love this prize:)

P.S. your hubby is so cute. He seems very precise and proper. Whereas you seem like the laid back one. In our house, it is the opposite. I am precise and proper and Dave is laid back. Anyway, you are an adorable couple.

Your video made me giggle. Ours is a fortunate generation! My husband gradually took over the laundry as my grad school demands increased. I had to beg him to let me have the job back once I'd graduated! Still, I find him lurking in the laundry room, hoping to scrape together enough whites for a load!

I was married on August 5, 2006 and I have not done the laundry since. My husband is very anal and likes things done a certain way, so why argue?! He even hangs my clothes that I don't want dried in the dryer...which is most of them! He LOVES doing laundry; dusting not so much...

I wish I could relate, but sadly I can not. If my husband even looks at our laundry, he ruins it. I can't tell you how many clothes he has shruken or discolored over the years. It makes me want to cry. And the other day he got ahold of my son's clothes. Yeah...little Nico only got to wear his winter sweater once. *sigh*

I'm so with you! I've been married now for 23 years (but I'm young, I swear!), and my hubby has done the laundry the majority of the time. For me, it was because I put a treasured concert T in the dryer--that was it! I'm not allowed to do laundry--although I do occasionally. And now that he is a stay-at-home dad, I rarely even get to fold clothes--because I don't do it "right"--bummer!

But I know he loves Method (we use a lot of their products) and would love this prize!

Laundry is MINE, all mine. I actually love doing it. But vacuuming? That's another story. I hate to vacuum! If I had it my way, I'd only vacuum when the floor "looked" dirty. Disgusting, I know, but true! My husband can't stand how lazy I am about it, so he has officially adopted that chore! And he is SO much better at it than I am, because he actually cares. In fact, he was sick in bed w/ the flu for a few days and when he felt better, he vacuumed. Then he came to me and said "I just vacuumed the bedroom and the carpet started crying because it missed it so much." ... what can I say to that??

-Buy more clothes.
-Wear clothes 4 times before washing.
-Febreeze
-Buy more hampers. We now have 4.
-Force husband who is home from work for dental surgery to do laundry regardless of level of pain med induced highness.

You're husband is so cute. I love how he just started talking about what a great wife you are at the end.
As for "soiled linens", I have no children of my own, but I have younger siblings. Its such a powerful scent, washing them immediately is truly the best decision.
This reminds me I need to go into town today and do my laundry. I have a massive pile and relatively few clean clothes left. :-/

He is fine doing his own laundry, but I cringe when he tries to do mine...he's shrunk two of my favorite Franchessca dresses and his folding skills are atrocious. Love that your husband is skilled in the laundry dept. though (and your video was damn cute)!

Awesome video. The music was mixed a little high, I couldn't hear him all the time, but it was great. (With youtube & master volume at max on my laptop)

I do my delicates, but the man does some laundry, and I've taught him about darks and screenprints and how hangdrying is for the win. :P

He does all the vacuuming and a lot of other stuff, including the dirty dishes, usually - I unload the dishwasher though because he's not a fan. Or he'll do it and have me put away the silverware. ;p

Pretty good setup. ;)

Ok, not only do I hate laundry, I too have blogged about how my husband is the household laundry do-er. I haven't touched it since April of 2008. Here's proof:

I can relate as far as windows are concerned. Give me a mirror or window and I soon find myself with streaks and I'm WAY too type A to accept those. Fact is, I have a hard time not hissing "don't touch!" anytime fingers go near something reflective.

Since he works in glass, I totally handed the polishing over to Zoë's dad. He's a master.

My husband is most excellent at laundry as well, so I forgive him for not being able to cook too ;) .

That was the most amazing thing that I have ever seen. My husband only does laundry for two reasons. First, he is out of under garments. Second, I am a hysterical wreck because there is laundry everywhere that I have gotten through the washing and drying process, but am loathe to fold and put away. He will then descend to my supine position on the floor, dry my tears, and fold the laundry for me. It doesn't always get folded correctly or put away in the right place, but it is done and I didn't have to do it. If I could get him hooked on laundry, my life just might reach Nirvana!
