Everyone needs an Uncle Mike PDF Print E-mail

My baby brother, from Chicago, left me two voice mails on Saturday.  "I wonder if there's something wrong."  I mentioned to my husband while we were out late with our children at a friend's house.  "It's ten.  We should get the kids to bed.  The birthday party is tomorrow and they need to be well rested."

The door bell rang at ten thirty.  "Uncle Mike!!!"  All three children squealed.  "What are you doing in Cleveland?"  He had driven all day to surprise us with a visit.  Everyone needs an Uncle Mike1 in their lives.

At midnight the birthday-girl-to-be fell asleep in her uncle's arms.

I'm sorry.... I missed the part where you asked me to fill out an application to be the Aunt Sarah to his Uncle Mike?

Apparently you didn't get all the good looks in the family :)

I would take him, I am Polish too. But I just got engaged, so I am off the market! By the way...I emailed you before about this. Do you know about the Oczepiny dance? I am starting to think it may be a "Buffalo, NY" Polish thing, and maybe not a general Polish thing. Did you do this dance, where you wear a small white beanie on your head and your new husband wears a straw hat with fruit on top, at your wedding reception? Or have you seen a Polish wedding that had that? Just wondering...

I have not seen that but than again have not been to many traditional Polish weddings. I need to check that out and let my engaged sister know about it.

Congrats on your engagement!

Umm if I wasn't already thinking about marrying my wonderful bf (you know and I didn't own a house and a dog with him) I'd totally ask for a set up with your brother. Then you could be my sister-in-law and I could an aunt to some of the most adorable children..oh and of course be the wife of this incredible Uncle Mike!

Oh, and maybe you should mention the general vicinity of his location of residence? You know, in case we know of anybody available...

Instead of an Uncle Mike, I had an Aunt Mary. She was crazy and hilarious to grow up with.

We have an Uncle Mike too except his name is Uncle Jerod (aka Uncle JJ) and he is the best! Our kids absolutely adore him and I don't know what we would do without him because he is also our part time "manny" ;)

My Uncle Gary was the equivalent to your kids' Uncle Mike, and I'm so glad your kids have that! I miss my uncle so much.

I, too, simply adore Fifi's tutu. I love that it sits below her little belly, and how her little stubby legs poke out the bottom. Cuteness galore! :)
