It's no secret that I love a good conversation.

It's something that I hope my children will enjoy as well; otherwise, they might be lost at the extended Karwowski dinner table which is frequently the stage for many healthy and heated dialogues.  To prepare them for a life long seat at our confident table I stumbled across two tools that foster that quality I love most about my family.  Starting great discussions.

conversation

The "Kids Topics" (on the left) and the "Family Dinner."  #notablogreview

We've actually gone through both boxes, twice over.  Needless to say, the kids ask for it every night as we sit down for dinner. "Can we do the questions?"  (The Kids Topic questions are friendlier for smaller kids as some of the concepts in Family Dinner are too hard to grasp)

Tonight was no different and the kids begged to answer the questions.  "But we have answered them all, twice.  I will order more on the dot com tomorrow."  I explained.

"I have a better idea!"  My son interrupted.  "How about we write our own questions?"

Yeah.  Something tells me that they will do just fine at our extended family dinners.  Consider this a friendly warning Karwowski family - we have another generation of passionate conversationalists.

Oh, I'd love to join you guys for that type of dinner. Right now, our questions get answered with "I don't remember!" and "I don't know."

We LOVE those boxes of questions! FYI, we also have a Thanksgiving and Christmas version and they make a "Girlfriends Box of Questions" too which is so much fun for a girls weekend or night out! They are fun! And like yours, our kids are always asking for them (and they range in age from 18 to 3!!!).

One of the benefits of our scheduled lifestyle is that we eat dinner, together, every night as a family. Homework gets put on hold, cell phones get turned off and we all sit and talk. It's one of my favorite parts of the day! Yours too, I can tell. :)

I saw the Girlfriends Box of Questions and think I will order it for my sister's upcoming bacherlorette weekend in Miami. I think it would be a fun way to get to know all of her girlfriends, before the wedding.

Thanks for the captions. Before I noticed them, I was wondering what the "carona hors" were. Sounded like something from college.

This is such a great idea. Definitely on the someday list for us!

precious.

We had a blast at our Mom 2 dinner at Ninfas with our Girlfriends Night Out box of questions.

We do something VERY similar and I love! Off to Amazon to find those boxes ;-)

We have Family Fun Time Dinner Questions (found at Borders) which the kids love! We use a lot of the questions when we get bored standing in line or riding in the van too.

we have one of those dinner conversation games. But more times than not dinner is more of a "SIT DOWN TO EAT!" "Quit holding your fork like the the steak is about to grow legs and run off the plate, you no longer have to hunt for your food, you know?!" "BE QUITE AND EAT!!"

I may just have to try that. We used to do "How was your day 1-10" where you tell about your day and how good or bad it was by the number system. Now that they are older I can hardly get everyone to eat at the same table.

My kiddos love the Family Time Fun dinner questions. Even when one of them doesn't pull out the box, they'll start a round of "Mrs.Pagetti loves her spaghetti..."

We too, play lots of dinner conversation games. My kids have their own versions of "what if...?" and "what would you rather do...?". Love listening to them linger at the table after everyone else is done just chatting with eachother. Love that.

What a great idea and fun products. And yeah, we need something like this (or to write our own) because "how was school today?" is already getting old! ;)

Here is tonight's offering at our table of the game Mrs. Mayhem mentioned: "Mrs. Pagetti likes her spaghetti with ladybugs and marsh mellows, butter, cranberry juice, mango lemonade, dollar bills, pencils, salad, two cents, a fried egg, frosting, a cherry, candle wax, the birthday candles that made the wax, a grain of salt, parmesan cheese, tomato sauce, a wildcard, a small planet orbiting around, mayonnaise, glass, Toby's Tofu, supercalifragilisticexpialidos cious*, gummy bear vitamins, and sprig of thyme (the 8 year old's addition). They are still at it (I dropped out some time ago). Good brain stretcher.

* The 8 year olds last addition.
