A toast to my sister on her wedding day PDF Print E-mail

I'm Kasia's slightly older sister, Pauline.

Growing up family and friends would comment on how we were like night and day.  Not only in our looks but also in personality.

kasiaandi

She was a bubbly blonde and I was a serious brunette.  It was only natural for people to point out our differences.  But beneath the surface we are more alike then our entourage of love believes.

We are both researchers of life and no decisions are final without feverishly throwing ourselves into thought.  Even before writing a matron of honor speech I scoured the Internet for how-tos.  Nearly all of them recommended you should avoid any embarrassing stories.  Well.  Growing up with Kasia was always an adventure leaving me with stories that would make her blush.

Which brings me to another similarity Kasia and I share.  We are both stubborn and often makes our own rules.  That's how I got thirteen-year-old Kasia in the middle of a mosh pit at the Violent Femmes concert in Indiana, on a school night.  And that's how you, our family and friends, will watch Kasia blush tonight.

Ahem.  In kindergarten Kasia "researched" diapers by strapping one on for school.  I can only imagine what my mother thought when her stubborn middle child requested one of our baby brother's diapers to wear.  I think Mama learned to pick her battles early on.

So tonight, I ask you Dave to take Kasia's hand and place your hand over hers.  Look in her eyes.  Admire her smile.  And now, remember this moment and cherish it forever.  Because this will be the last time you'll ever have the upper hand.  I give you my smart and stubborn sister tonight with one piece of advice.  Never forget what is worth remembering or remember what is best forgotten.

Cheers!

Perfectly written!

Your little Feenster looks just like your sister when she was young. And, your sister is beautiful with a strong resemblance to Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.
