Yes, it's true.  Cleveland grew on me.  I was that girl who grew up on the streets of Chicago and followed a boy to Cleveland.  True story.

It took a long time for me to warm up to the city of Cleveland.  But now, it's home.  For eight years I've practiced saying "Cleveland" when people asked me where home was. It's the home-town feeling, no traffic, five star dining, awesome down-to-earth-people, world class health care, amazing suburban schools, ridiculous inexpensive home prices and so so so much more that I love to call home.  Where people pause at yellow traffic lights and politely wave.  It's freaking weird for a Chicago transplant. It's a great place to be.

Last night "King James" decided to leave Cleveland.  His home.  I wish him nothing but good health and remind people that Cleveland really does rock...

Honestly. I'm proud to call it home.

And please.  If you are from the Cleveland area, leave me a comment.  Anything!  I see you peeking in my statistics.  Take a moment (I took a momnet writing this post - it takes just a second to leave a comment) and tell me your most favorite thing about Cleveland.

Excellent video! I love the way you can find a new part of town you've never seen before that blows your mind. Most recently: League Park--The Babe's 500th homerun and where Joe Dimaggio's streak was broken, now just a field and a brick wall and one stump of a lightpost. Watching my husband and his 1860's baseball team walk reverently on the field is a memory I'll always carry with me.

I love the pride everyone in Cleveland has. This city is well loved by its people even if the rest of the country doesn't see it. We are really #HappyinCLE

I love Cleveland! Malley's Chocolates!! I live in Atlanta (born and raised), but my best friend from high school used to live on the West side of town and her parents were in Ashland. She is now in Mt. Vernon in Apple Valley. I would retire in Ohio if given the chance! My husband was born in Parma Heights so I've been able to experience all areas of that wonderful city! I'm jealous!!

CLE is an under-rated city. So much to offer from the National Park System to amazing Dining. But, just like any city...you have to get out to enjoy and appreciate it!

As a native Ohioan, I love the diversity of our fine state. From rural country life to cultural urban areas...we have it all. The passion of our people, whether it is with sports, food, blogging etc. is tremendous. I LOVE living in CLE and wouldn't want to live anywhere else (well, Maui doesn't count).

Now when are we planning this road trip to Miami for the Dr/OHmommy clothing drive of used LBJ gear? ;)

This is so cliche, but I love Cleveland peeps. Clevelanders are smart and scrappy, and they love their city.

You are right - Cleveland DOES rock! No matter what the weather is like in January or what our sports teams do, it is a place that we are all happy to call "home". (And what is there not to love about Lake Erie in the summer, Little Italy, East 4th, the museums, Metroparks, West Side Market, etc.)

You have to visit the Greenhouse Tavern. Johnathon Sawyer owner/head chef was just featured in People magazine this week. Make sure you make reservations. You must go.

;) My favorite thing about Cleveland is truly the people. I grew up here and was dying to move away, but when I did, I finally realized how awesome my home town is. People might be frank and at times considered rude, but we're honest! I lived in the South for a bit, and the backhanded compliments and fake politeness drove my insane. Just be real with me. After moving back, I appreciate the city and the people so much more. The amazing culture, restaurants, homes, etc... don't hurt either

I went to Cleveland for the first time in June and had a blast! How cool that so many of the neighborhoods literally line the lake. We here in land-locked Atlanta are very jealous of that, it's a 5-hr drive minimum for us to water :)

I live about 45 minutes SE of Cleveland and I love Cleveland and Ohio! I spent the majority of my teenage and college years declaring "I will get out of this place ASAP". Then I meet my husband and he told me he loved it here and would never leave. I thought he was crazy at first and then it just kept growing on me. I love having my family near me, I love that I know every town and road in my county and the majority of them in surrounding counties. We have wonderful schools, high school football programs, and colleges. But my favorite thing is with less than a three hour drive we can take any kind of weekend vacation. To the lake, the mountains, the city or a casino. I love this area, I'm even starting to embrace the winters!

Hey there! I am not from Clevenland, but I live close enough and had a best friend who was from there. And, definitely, the best thing about Cleveland?

The Flats. Hands down.

I moved to the Cleveland area for the variety of activities available. I'm from a suburb of Dayton and growing up, bemoaned the fact that there was nothing to do. Not a problem for my kids!

CLEVELAND ROCKS!

I grew up about 90 min south and always thought Cleveland was "dirty" (we never really came here - always went to Columbus instead). Having lived here 2 1/2 years now I LOVE it! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the state.

I'm probably the only true blooded Clevelander who reads your blog. I grew up on the westside of Cleveland in an old Irish-Catholic neighborhood. Suburbanites thought St. Iganatious of Antioch's church tower was the Terminal Tower (LOL). I've heard many people say that Cleveland is an awesome place to live, but not visit. I'm proud of my Cleveland roots, and do enjoy traveling to other cities. Thank you for your kind words about an often forgot about city.
