She named the two crabs she captured "Iloveyou" and "Iloveyoutoo". She carried them everywhere in Costa Rica and held them close.

"Pinky promise you won't let them go?" she asked my father.

"I no let crabs go." my father promised. He held the natural crab habitat in his hands and watched her jump the ocean waves.

She spoke to them lovingly as if they were cuddly puppies and petted their hard shells often. She smothered them with her undivided attention.

"I just love you Iloveyou and Iloveyoutoo so much." she whispered into the plastic Fanta container. "I never want to let you go."

She's my little crab. All mine.

I love the corn rows. Somehow - I don't think they're ethnically correct - but they look great on her nonetheless.

So cute.

iloveyou and iloveyoutoo are the best names I've ever heard. Wish I thought of those when I was naming my twins.

We love crabs over here in our world! Fortunately I have their dad to show them to explain marine protection laws and that if we take the crabs home ... well, we all go to jail. I then get to explain that the police won't let the crabs live in jail with us & if we are in jail we cannot come visit the crabs any more! That works. I'm sure you could have used customs officers in the same scenario. (so adorable, your child: lovely memory!)
