I've attended many conferences in the last four years pursuing my interest in social media. Each time I enter those conference doors I look around for people I know and my eighth-grade insecurities kick in. Why am I here? Where do I sit? Does this outfit make me look fat? In the era of social media all of my insecurities are matched with an overwhelming response on twitter/facebook of "who cares... we can finally talk social media one-on-one in real life!" kinda of squeals. I love talking shop!
That's how I found myself in the midst of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration 2011.
Where Meg Crofton, President of the Walt Disney Resorts, started the conference off with "We hope you take the time for the magic to move you" and introduced Matt Jacobsen (Head of Market Development for Facebook) who gave us priceless advice about social media and later turned the microphone over to Rene Syler of @goodenufmother whom was equally as awesome. Delightful. Real. Raw. She said "no one is going to believe in you as much as you believe in yourself." The next speaker was the infamous Chris Brogan who reminded us that "your blog is your home base" and so much more. The conference ended with an amazing concert put on by Susan Egan & Georgia Stitt.
The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was a perfect blend of social media, humor, relaxation, inspiration and amazing family time spent at the beautiful Grand Floridian and all of the magical Disney parks. All weekend long I was surrounded by my incredible colleagues and my beloved family. Check it out:
suoprires A million thanks to @disneysmmoms and team. I paid for the conference and transportation, but was given many gifts, reduced rates, special awesome dinners and so much more - never once asked to mention Disney or write about it. |

Second, you are always surrounded by friends. No matter where you go.
Sad that it fell at the same time as hubby's annual conference :-( I wanted to go.

I second, Justanothermommyblog's friends comment.
