Confession: Before I was a blogger I was an ebayer PDF Print E-mail

One of the most popular questions I get regarding my About Me page is, "Did you really sell all your baby items on ebay before having your third child?"

"The husband, an only child, was quite happy with a wife and two children. Together with the classy brunette they sold all their baby items on ebay for a profit of $510.83. That was the down payment for their VERY CLASSY dinning room table, chairs, buffet, and art work. This room was supposed to represent the end of childbirth. Nine months later, their third child, named online as Fifi, was born."

Yes. Yes, I did.

We thought we were done having children. I knew that I would only get a fraction of what we paid for the items by selling them at a garage sale - so I sold EVERYTHING on ebay and made a pretty penny. Our fancy Italian stroller was sent to a nice couple in Vancouver. Our over-priced highchair was disassembled and sent to Miami. For a couple of months I was on a first name basis with our post office.

These days I use ebay a lot during the holidays to save money on the kiddos' gifts, search through the designer luxury items and sell things the kids have outgrown. I'm on ebay regularly. Did you know that I used to have an ebay business selling personalized bibs? Every night I produced a handful of bibs while my two toddlers were asleep. The profits I made allowed me to sign them up for gym classes and music enrichment. The only reason I stopped was because I started blogging.

Apparently the good folks at ebay are onto me because they have invited me to be a part of their "Ebay Parent Panel" for this year. What does this mean? This means that occasionally throughout the year I will be casually mentioning ebay.

I'm very excited to be a part of the "Ebay Parent Panel" who will be sponsoring some posts that will help our one-income family pay for a few extracurricular activities this year. Because money doesn't grow on trees but selling designer strollers on ebay is a good start. Kidding, kinda of. Did you know that we receieved 75% back of what we paid for our Italian stroller? That reminds me to start selling some of my purses.

Congrats Pauline! (I'm kinda sorta jealous) I have the same story but without the Italian stroller and 3rd baby. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us readers :)

I too did the same thing. After the fourth one...(twins) we decided to startup a site called heybooboo.com to see baby related products. Good luck with you and yours. We are hoping to make things happen for new mothers and fathers by providing this service to them and friends.
