I'll never be able to thank you properly enough for your amazing support on my last post. I'm armed with enough knowledge now to approach my school district, much thanks to your incredible insight. You are my modern day playgroup where the exchange of information is tossed around freely without any judging.

I can't imagine going through motherhood without you. How did our mothers survive? I guess their laundry smelled much cleaner than ours when they hung it out to dry while swapping stories in their backyards. I am forever grateful that you shared stories with me, making me feel less alone. More so, for giving me the strength to fight.

It's good to be a mother in this day and age.

I didn't comment on that post, because I didn't know what I could possibly add.

I will tell you one thing that my mom once told me. You have to be your childs advocate and biggest cheerleader. No one else will do it.

Also....hugs. I know everything will work out eventually.

from reading your blog and seeing what you have accomplished in life, you will get thru this with NO problems. you will be your child's advocate and learn the ropes and get the correct help that is needed. good luck !!! we have formed a group in our school for the moms who have kids with ieps - we meet up and are able to discuss different therapies, what works what doesn't etc.

I don't usually comment on blogs but I am a teacher and I am fairly certain that if you make a request in writing that your child be tested for a learning disability the school district is required to provide the testing for you. I wok in IL but I believe it is a federal law.

I know a lot of people say the Internet has made us all LESS connected, but posts like this prove to me that it has opened up new avenues of support for modern parents.

I wanted to give you the name of an author/advocate who really gets it when it comes to learning disabilities.
Rick Lavoie
Please check out his website for some very helpful advice. It was invaluable to my family and personal sanity.
You will survive this!
