My seven year old, my four year old and my eighty-eight year old grandmother.
Priceless.
The thing about online journals is that you are able to document life, as it happens. I want my children to know the strings of events that led them to where they are right now - enjoying the company of my 88 year-old Polish grandmother Apolonia who slept surrounded by over-priced Target decals of butterflies under my roof in Cleveland tonight.
In 2008 our young family visited Apolonia and her husband Stanislaw in Poland - 10 Rocky Lane. In 2009 Stanislaw Karwowski died in peace. In 2010 Apolonia, stubborn as can be, finally admitted that she'd like to be surounded by family. Apolonia arrived in the USA in a fur coat. After just one week in America, Apolonia called her brother and said "America is Eden." In 2010 Apolonia found herself overwhelmed by the stiletto choices in America. Later that year my son purchased a statue to make Apolonia feel more at home. In August of 2010 Apolonia applied for a green card. She's here to stay.
And on November 13, 2011... Apolonia slept in Feenie's room and bonded with her.
Apolonia is here to stay and nothing warms my heart as much. Priceless memories. |

Also, what a sweet post. Love the relationships that are formed with grandparents and especially great-grandparents and our children, don't you?
p.s. I think Apolina needs a sassy scarf to go with her jacket too...
But WHERE ARE HER STILLETTOS??
Beautiful!
Congratulations !!!
