Lost her battle with cancer, early this morning.

roseann

We explained to the kiddos that the human body is like a glove and only works when there is something inside it. A hand in the glove. A spirit in the body. Once that glove (body) is hurt, it doesn't work as well as it did before but the spirit fights to stay where it feels comfortable. Grandma's glove was hurt so much that it couldn't carry her spirit anymore and released it.

"Now we have a guardian angel looking over us, Mama." Lola said.

Yes. Yes we do.

What a BEAUTIFUL analogy for your kids. It is perfect. I explained it in a similar way using butterflies and their cocoons.

I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.

I can totally empathize with you and your family at this time. It's so difficult to watch a loved one's decline -especially to cancer and where there are small children involved, to have to explain the finality of life, of living and help them to absorb that loss. I went through that with my kids 32 years ago when I lost my Mom to cancer too. My younger kids were about the same age as your girls; my older child was 12 at that time but she was extremely close to her Grandmother and had a very difficult time adjusting afterward. Your family will be in my prayers for healing and peace.

I'm so sorry. I know how inadequate words really are though. My father died on June 21st this year at the age of 66. Nothing prepared me for the acute loss I felt and still feel. My heart goes out to your husband and all of you.

I am so sorry to hear this. My heart breaks knowing how much she has suffered but I smile knowing that she left this world loved so much. My daughter lost her grandpa a few years ago and it was certainly tough and there are good times and bad times but in the end, kids are more resilient to the pain. Prayers to your family.
